THE CONDITION OF LIGHT CURING UNITS USED DENTAL CLINICS IN SEOUL, KOREA

Abstract
|

|
Object of this study was to survey the condition of dental light curing units currently used in dental clinics in Seoul, Korea, One hundred and eighty practitioners were selected at random to be surveyed by inspections and questionaires about light curing units. The contents of questionaire were units age, satisfaction, repair etc. Surveyer inspected the model name, manufacturer, light intensity, cleanness of tip etc. Followings were obtained.
1. Proportion of units of below 200 mW/㎠ was 25%, that of 200-299 mW/㎠ 20% and that of over 300 mW/㎠ was 55%.
2. Proportion of dentists who were satisfied with their light curing units was 85%.
3. Proportion of under 5-year usage was 70%, that of 6-10-year usage was 23% and that of over 11-year usage was 7%.
4. Proportion of dentists who had the experience of remending or repairing of the light curing units was 45%.
5. The light curing units most frequently used were made by 3M(49%), Demetron(15%), Vivadent(75) and Kulzer(5%) and the models were Visilux-2(3M), XL-1000(3M), Optilux(Demetron), Translux(Kulzer) and Heliomat(Vivadent).
For it was thought that dentists were lack of concern and understanding about light curing units, it is concluded that the dentists’ concern and understanding be stimulated for better clinical results.
